You all know that Horror Channel is your number one destination for all the finest in fear-filled cinema, so you’ll be as happy as Michael Myers with a new kitchen knife to learn that 2018 is building up to be our strongest yet with a leading line-up of modern-day macabre movies and chilling celluloid classics. We’ve also got some of the best from FrightFest’s past. It would take far too long to list all our gruesome gems so here’s a quick look at some of our horrific highlights.
Let’s kick off with our Infection Season, which you can ‘catch’ every Saturday night in April and includes network premieres of two of the best non-zombie zombie movies ever made; 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later. These “virus runs amok” movies redefined what the zombie genre could do, going beyond the usual gut-munching affair. With nods to the Romero classic The Crazies (the remake of which also appears in our season), you can be sure these are two movies well worth a watch. Also, if post-apocalyptic thrills are your bag, then the UK TV premiere of FrightFest favourite Turbo Kid is for you. Any movie that has Michael Ironside in its cast is well worth seeing and this tale of a comic book fan fighting an overlord is way too much fun to miss. Oh, and talking of UK TV premieres, we also have Spiders 3D, The Gauntlet, Radius, Seventh Moon and Extinction coming up on the channel, to name but a few.

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the shower, we’ll also be checking into the Bates Motel to see what mummy’s boy Norman Bates has been up to in the certifiable sequels Psycho II, Psycho III and Psycho IV: The Beginning. Picking up the story two decades after the original, we discover Norman’s been naughty again as well as examining his rather troubled childhood. As you’d expect, Anthony Perkins is on top form relishing every maniacal moment.
John Carpenter recently celebrated his 70th birthday, so party with us as we bring a season of his best movies in June which includes the network premiere of Vampires and fan favourite Christine. Based on the Stephen King classic, this is as rock ‘n’ roll as horror gets where a geek becomes too cool for school thanks to a killer car. Fans of Stephen King take note that we also have one of the finest films adaptations of his books, a movie that has real bite, Cujo.
If you’re a sucker for the paranormal side of horror then you need to be in for the movie that kickstarted Hollywood’s revival of jump-scares, James Wan’s Insidious. In fact, if ghosts are your thing, we’re the channel for you, as we also have network premieres of Amityville II: The Possession and Thir13en Ghosts. Fans of the VHS era will love the schlock of Tobe Hopper’s ‘80s classic The Funhouse, as well as the total insanity of festival favourite Iron Sky, where the dark side of the moon hides a Nazi secret.

We’ve even found time to show you some Arnie action with his sci-fi thriller The 6th Day, and Buffy herself Sarah Michelle Gellar pops up for some slasher action in The Return. To stay with the hack ‘n’ slash theme we deliver Urban Legends: Final Cut, where more teens discover, in very inventive ways, that legends never die. Another legend returns too as Bernard Rose, the director of Candyman and Paperhouse delivers his vision of the ultimate gothic novel, Frankenstein.
So, keep it tuned to Horror Channel – Sky Digital channel 319, Virgin TV channel 149, Freeview channel 70 and Freesat channel 138 – for the very best in the dark side of cinema.
