Re: One Cut of the Dead

No idea if this adds anything or not, but... Hollywood edition!

A Good Woman is Hard to Find

8/10 - Hard going for the first half hour of life as an unemployed single mother of two. Luckily, a selection of villains start to muscle their way into the plot and things get a lot more interesting...

Rabid

8/10 - Solid remake. Personally, I don't really like the tentacle... or the thing on the wall for that matter ... to me, they feel like they've wandered in from a different movie. And seriously, only in a horror movie could someone walk into a room and not notice that until they've backed into it...

The Banana Splits Movie

11/10 - Is it too early to talk about Oscars?

Satanic Panic

8/10 - Lots of good clean Satanic fun to be had here.

The Black String

7/10 - A strong performance by Frankie Muniz but a let-down ending.

Nekrotronic

8/10 - Ghostbusters 4. Whilst clearly short on the budget side, this movie's goofy charm and energy keep it bouncing merrily along... aside from a fair bit of exposition.

Ready Or Not

9/10 - Excellent mainstream horror with comic touches.

Did anyone else struggle, whenever Daniel (the brother) came on screen, not to yell out
Spoiler:
"Daniel isn't real!"

Daniel Isn't Real

7/10 - Neither Luke nor the shrink should have been stupid enough to empower Daniel. Following the movie's own logic,
Spoiler:
Daniel will just jump to another host now Luke's dead.

Eat Brains Love

7/10 - Enjoyable romp at first, but runs out of steam by the end. Unresolved.

Spiral

6/10 - This one didn't make a lot of sense to me... why harrass them at all? Contrived to fit its social agenda.

Why Won't You Just Die?

8/10 - Russian version of the old 'boyfriend meets father' story. It does not go well. Great fun.

I really want the closing music (Fuck You by The Hatters), but I'm slightly concerned that I might start singing along in public...

Are we dead yet?

4/10 - Comedy, allegedly. Some OK plot hiding beneath a thick layer of idiots.
Spoiler:
Then it just stops. The prologue was apparently the ending, but that implies that our 'heroes' got the gold... but they didn't. Mr Sanderson's guys did, as far as we know.
I don't care anymore.

Mary

7/10 - Mainstream horror, nice and safe. 'Distinctly OK'.
