FrightFest

8/10 - Ghostbusters 4. Whilst clearly short on the budget side, this movie's goofy charm and energy keep it bouncing merrily along... aside from a fair bit of exposition.

9/10 - Excellent mainstream horror with comic touches.

Did anyone else struggle, whenever Daniel (the brother) came on screen, not to yell out ?

7/10 - Neither Luke nor the shrink should have been stupid enough to empower Daniel. Following the movie's own logic,

7/10 - Enjoyable romp at first, but runs out of steam by the end. Unresolved.

6/10 - This one didn't make a lot of sense to me... why harrass them at all? Contrived to fit its social agenda.

8/10 - Russian version of the old 'boyfriend meets father' story. It does not go well. Great fun.

I really want the closing music (Fuck You by The Hatters), but I'm slightly concerned that I might start singing along in public...

4/10 - Comedy, allegedly. Some OK plot hiding beneath a thick layer of idiots.
I don't care anymore.

7/10 - Mainstream horror, nice and safe. 'Distinctly OK'.

6/10 - Psychic Simon is alternately powerless or unstoppable... but otherwise this went pretty well. I was confused by his ability to heal himself... which I'd assumed only related to his psychic 'stigmata', but later seems to cover broken legs and acid burns (and in retrospect perhaps even a crushe...

7/10 - The twist eventually explains much of it... but half an hour in I was really annoyed with this for making no sense... and some of the characters should have reacted more to that, I think.

7/10 - Ghostbusters 3. Took too long to get going, but eventually found its stride. Few caught the thrilling post-credits footage...

6/10 - Passable comedy horror which doesn't quite nail either. The 'camp' twist falls very flat.

It's amazing what you can do with a shoelace.

6/10 - Believability is stretched thin by having two actresses with very different looks cast as 'almost sisters'.

5/10 - Incessant strobe effects and wobble-cam make this borderline unwatchable. There's an intense vampire movie in there somewhere... maybe. Needed less volume in the first half to avoid viewer fatigue. Continuity was a mess... she drives past the same building twice, is followed by a white Jeep t...

8/10 - Complex German thriller. Not one to watch without your full attention...

Needs an epilepsy warning for strobes.
