Re: The Duke Mitchell Party 2018
It did feel like it was turning into an episode of Tarrant on TV this year. The larger audience and theatre meant there weren't many opportunities for people to come out to the front and get involved in questions and dancing. This is one screening that would have really benefited from being in the m...

Re: BRING BACK THE Q & As
I often don’t have a question (or have the nerve to ask) but always love to hear other peoples’ questions as they’ve often spotted something I didn’t and bring out extra interesting nuggets about the film. You simply can’t do this in the foyer without looking like a creep constantly hanging around ...
Re: The Golem
The silent version from 1920 is a seminal moment in horror film-making but I think it's one of the silent horrors that has aged worst, so there was plenty of potential for a modern remake. The initial scene promises much, with a hulking golem apparently having finished his rampage through a synagogu...

Re: Best 5 of the festival
Either I was the only person here to see it, or I completely misjudged it but I’m amazed nobody else is ranking The Laplace’s Demon. Thanks for the tip. The concept and trailer looked very interesting. Pity it was scheduled on the Cineworld Discovery screen so it could be only seen by about 25 pass...

Re: Best 5 of the festival
1. Climax 2. Tigers Are Not Afraid 3. Upgrade 4. Summer of 84 5. Anna and the Apocalypse I'm cheating a bit here because Tigers and Anna and the Apocalypse where scheduled against each other so it was impossible to see them both at this festival, but I saw Tigers at the Glasgow Frightfest. Honourabl...

Re: Strong Year?
I think it was one of the strongest years for a while. There's always a lot of filler, but I do think this year had more high-quality films than usual. However, more than ever, there are a lot of films being relegated to the Discovery screens that are undoubtedly higher quality than stuff that playe...

Re: TBC Saturday 25th
Has "The Great Rock n' Roll Swindle" gone? I'm happy that there's another screening of "One Cut of the Dead", but I was intrigued about seeing it and hearing Alan's memories of the film. Maybe it could be screened at the Prince Charles at a post-festival date? That is never going...

Re: Discovery/first blood tks
It wasn't too bad for me either. It was slow, but I was much more stressed booking the festival passes where I had several rounds of trying to select five tickets together only to be told that they were no longer available when I clicked "buy", with seats vanishing all the time. I did my b...

Re: Newbie - ticketing process
Is it a massive gamble waiting until 18th August for tickets for that? Are a certain number put aside to ensure day ticketers have a decent shot at a ticket having already paid for the day? You said they do 'put by' tickets, so presumably it'd be first come first served on 18th, no difference to th...

Re: Fantasy FrightFest Film Festival
I tend to think that days should be arranged: First film of the day - An easy watch or something crowd pleasing Afternoon film - People are coming back from lunch so nothing too disgusting Late afternoon film - Good slot for the darkest, nastiest offerings, as it will be buffered by other films so t...
Re: Guests
Anyone know what guests we might expect to attend this year ? Would love for Sam Elliott but very doubtful Nothing official, but Barbara Crampton has tweeted that she'll be there for the whole week, which is probably necessary as she's one of the mentors for the New Blood initiative. As is Jenn Wex...

Re: Goodbye. Doesn't feel like FrightFest anymore.
Listening to Paul's comments on the Evolution of Horror podcast, he mentions that he hasn't seen the new Suspiria or Halloween. So maybe Frightfest doesn't fit with their release strategy or they're still tinkering with the films.

Re: Goodbye. Doesn't feel like FrightFest anymore.
Also: Upgrade is 100% mainstream. Could you tell me why its mainstream? Ive never heard of it and has none to little hype preceeding it. What makes something mainstream? Well, it's a Blumhouse production, the popular Leigh Whannell writes and directs, and it will get a cinema release. Like many of ...

Re: 2018 Lineup Announced
Do we know when the individual film pages will be added to the links from the main schedule page? I made a brew in expectation of an pleasant hour reading through them all/starting a draft Discovery list and it's all just Not Found and 404 errors at the minute <impatient> All working for me? There ...
