Madness in the Method

I guess you have to be into the whole Kevin Smith universe to get all the in jokes and references. As a standalone comedy thriller, pretty much a failure. 2/5

Smith lost it a long time ago and Mewes shows he never had it apart from as an amusing bit-parter.

Now please, just fuck off into the sea.

This was the film I most wanted to avoid, but the alternatives in the Discovery screens didn't look much better and I couldn't be bothered faffing about trying to get tickets.
As it turned out, I thought it was... perfectly tolerable. There's a sufficiently coherent plot and a couple of amusing characters (the cop and the security guard).
The whole Kevin Smith "universe" thing has passed me by. I think I watched Mallrats once and I've seen Red State. I know Mewes mostly from a couple of terrible horror films, The Watermen and Devil's Tower. This was certainly a step up from those.
