I thought Carriers was the best film of the night. I really like films that try to take an intelligent look at what the end of the world will look like after the event. Opening with a Mad Max reference was a great way of immediately announcing a post appocalyptic road movie, and denying us the colourful characters in cyberpunk costumes and entertaining set pieces, burst that romantic bubble and left us with a bleak and gritty look at survival. I thought all the characters were pretty well pitched and their interaction and development was thoroughly believable. The horror was believable and frightening through it's mundanity, and was more about the human/social story than the nature of the virus. And i do rate that guy from Oz (I think he's in Crash and Skinwalkers too), he's a good and convinceing actor in most things I've seen him in, with pretty decent range.
All good stuff, but it was a pretty slow paced and depressing film to end the night with.

Spot on!The Soapmaker wrote:Nicely shot, nicely acted..... but what was it? Basically a film with all the standard zombie movie cliches...... but no zombies.
BORING!
And a terrible choice as last film of the night, something dumb and gory would've been far better.
Thanks for the ride, sir.
