Nina Forever
Nina Forever
9/10 - Really good fun, playing with the notion of a guy haunted by his late girlfriend in an interesting new way.
Re: Nina Forever
Agreed. It was a great movie. Only quibble was, that it didn't seem sure when to end

Couldn't agree more. This is actually the kind of film that makes Frightfest so important to me. It's unlikely I'd have chosen to see this film for myself, based on the poster, but it turned out to be something very special.

Re: Nina Forever
This one took me totally by surprise. I hadn't particularly liked the look of it from the write-up in the programme but it turned out to be probably my favourite film of the festival.
The character of Nina was fascinating - initially frightening but not really malevolent, just intrusive and irritating, completely self-centred and not at all sympathetic. In a Hollywood film she'd have realised it was "time to go" and floated off, accompanied by some wistful violin music. But here there were no neat, happy endings.
A horror film which was really a serious study of grief and the process of rebuilding a life afterwards. A comedy which left me felling melancholy. Loved it.

Great to see David Troughton, known to us older viewers as Tony Archer in the addictive radion "ongoing drama"

Re: Nina Forever
this was one of my top five films of the festival.
found it really sad and the direction and use of music was excellent.
the three leads were great.
i felt the film was slightly overlong by 10 or 15 mins would be my only critism.
this was one of those films that make you think and it stayed with me after.
great job and cant wait to see what the guys do next iam sure they will go a long way.

My favourite movie of the festival!
It didn't rely on contrivance to drive the narrative forward - instead, it took something genuine (bereavement), employed a grotesque/absurd metaphor and let the story play out with black humour and insight.

Re: Nina Forever
Very good film.
Entertaining and quite moving for me giving the subject matter.
Trying to decide if the erotisism detracted slightly from the thrust of the story (in so much that the sex replaced usual dark humour in stories about death) but it is a minor quibble.
Abigail Hardingham is stunning.
