The Horseman
The Horseman
Straightforward revenge thriller, gritty and brutal. Maybe a little long in the first act, but that's pretty much its only flaw.

Loved it...gritty, brutal and unflinching in it's depiction of a man left with nothing to lose and a load of porn barons with plenty of genitals to lose!!
My favorite film of the festival so far (it is only Friday night though...)

Definetly one of the best films of that day (along with I Sell The Dead) - really quite a brutal and NASTY film - I mean there's so much willy torture!!!!! Made me cross my legs a few times! That bicycle pump bit - shiver.

Revenge thrillers, even stupid ones, are always entertaining but it's good to see a serious, thought-provoking movie which also delivers on the action and nastiness.
I like the way the film presents Christian not as a hero, but as a tortured man who isn't even sure what he's doing is right, even though he feels he has to do it. You do wonder at times if the crime justifies the punishment....
But then it's clever (and satisfying) how the last group of bad guys are total scumbags, so they really deserve what happens to them!
One of the top three films of the weekend for me.

Pretty brutal stuff and there was a fair bit of what I think was a theme throughout the festival, namely what CSI refers to as Blunt Force Head Trauma. Over the weekend there was a lot of people either having their heads slammed into things or having things smashed into their heads. I liked it a lot and thought it was terrifically made and generally didn't flinch from the violence. My joint favourite film of Day 2, along with I Sell The Dead in the Discovery Screen.
