From the beginning

Post by iomega »

We are trying to gauge how long many FrightFesters have been attending the festival. Anecdotal evidence seems to suggest, we see the same faces each year, that quite a few folks have been around since the very beginning and and even more from the early 2000's.

Reply to this post and let us know so we can get a handle on this.

Thanking you in advance

The FrightFest chaps.

At least one or two films from the beginning.

Then a weekend pass from 2002 onwards.

What prompted me to look into this was I found some pictures from the early days and was surprised that I recognised so many of the faces from attendies of recent years.

Hello Ian and The FrightFest chaps.

I've been going since the beginning in 2000 (skipped 2001) and attending with my girlfriend (now wife) Sophie from 2002 - 2006. So been going every year since 2002. Did two all nighters in London (2006 and 2007) and one in Bristol (2011).

Cheers

I was there annoying you guys every year from 2000 - 2016 except for 2006, though may not be in many pictures on account of breaking cameras/unable to fit in the frame ;)

2011 not a bad year. You had The Woman, The Innkeepers, Detention and Kill List. Plus my favourite of that year's fest Kidnapped.

2008 for the main festival, the year of Martyrs!

For me still the hardest film to watch we have shown in the 19 years we have been hosting the event
No tears, please. It's a waste of good suffering.

Didn't take the plunge with a full festival pass till 2012 - been every year since!

I first did a couple of films in 2001 (that was when I turned 18), and 2002. Then I moved away from London and didn't return till 2008. My first weekend pass was in 2012 and I've been doing the full weekend ever since.

My mate James and I came for the Friday and Saturday in 2000, and have attended the full weekend since 2001. It's the highlight of my year :D

I began at the beginning in 2000 and attended every year until 2014.

I have been bringing up my 9 (then) year old son on my own since then (12 now) so have been unable to attend.

Really missed the festival but hope to dip my toe back in with a day pass this year or next.

If anyone is interested my best days were:

Friday 2004 - Oldboy, Haute Tension (incredible 120 minutes until the dreadful twist) and the so bad it was brilliant Toolbox Murders

Sunday 2008 - Let the right one in and Martyrs on the same day!!! 2 of the best horror films of the last 20 years (add Time Crimes, The Chaser, Dance of the Dead, Eden Lake, The Strangers, Jack Brooks Monster Slayer and I am tempted to rate 2008 as the best year ever - and yes I remember it was the year of Bubbas Chili Parlour)

Worst film ever - Zombie Women of Satan

Saddest moment - Saturday 2009 - the day a legend died - 1000 people laughing at (not with) Argento's Giallo

Donnie Darko in 2002, then weekend passes from 2004 on.

Three Halloweens, I think... one London, two Bristol.
