Burial

Post by Alex J »

An end of World War II actioner with some horror elements, the extent of which I'll leave the viewer to discover. The two leads are very good and the setpieces are well executed. The bookend segments are good and really help to add context and meaning. A solid effort from a festival regular.

7 / 10

Burial is not the war film that my generation was brought up on. But it tells a taut battle as the big WWII ends, over an important detail of how post war propaganda will play out for the Russians and the Nazis. Very thoughtful and historical, while alluding to fantasy horror elements.
Spoiler:
and i for one thought the wooden box was going to have a vampire in it. Talking of boxes, did you think of Repo Man or Seven at the end?
