When FrightFest was first created, the mission statement was simple: A film festival run by horror fans for horror fans, and all these years laster this has not changed. Filmmakers and distributors see this and understand the unique opportunity it gives them to showcase their films to a passionate, vocal, like-minded crowd that keeps growing. The press grasps this too, and the festival is supported by many media partners – eager to discover the latest talent.
As the title of our event suggests, we feature horror films, but not exclusivly. Our audience also like to see fantasy and Sci-fi films and the odd bloddy thiller. They are also particular to the odd bloody thriller. We have four strands. Main, Discovery, First Blood and Short Films. We are always getting asked, so I will save you asking, we prefer short films submitted to be under 20 minutes.
The festival is recognised as one of the top genre film festivals worldwide. The festival features in the Film Freeway and Dread Central top hundred lists and Movie Maker Magazine’s top 50 genre festivals of 2021.
